I’ve enjoyed an international career as a performer, recording artist, teacher, adjudicator, festival planner, arts board member, and music publisher. Along the way, I’ve taught symphony and Broadway musicians, All-State high school students, university music majors, professional flutists, doublers, flute professors—and even celebrities.
My students have consistently earned top honors. They’ve won placements in elite youth ensembles such as the Greater Dallas and Austin Youth Orchestras, Lone Star Wind Orchestra, the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall, and All-State and Region bands and orchestras in Texas and Louisiana. Several have been selected for the John Philip Sousa National Honor Band and named Outstanding Soloists at state competitions.
Many of my students have been accepted by top music schools, including Oberlin, Eastman, New England Conservatory, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Boston University, Manhattan School of Music, DePaul, Carnegie Mellon, Colorado University, UT Austin, University of North Texas, Texas Tech, Northwestern, and others.
They’ve also been accepted to highly selective summer programs such as Interlochen, Carnegie Mellon’s The Consummate Flutist, Peabody’s International Flute Master Classes, Orford Music Academy in Québec, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Round Top Festival Institute, Brevard, the National Orchestral Institute, Atlantic Music Festival, and SummerTrios. Several have performed and presented at National Flute Association Conventions, and many are now enjoying professional music careers of their own.
